Back in 1983 in Chicago, two friends set up shop in a cozy studio and started writing and producing their original songs for Jericho Productions' catalog. Kevin Paul and Mark Selden included some of Chicago's best vocalists, as well as a friend and former bandmate, Bene Spizz, who added Piano, B3, and Synthesizer to a number of the tracks. Spizz also brought a killer original song, 'Who Will Survive', to the sessions for Shay Jones to sing, more on that later!

This endeavor was part of a larger tapestry within Chicago's vibrant music scene, known for its influential contributions to genres like house and blues. During the 1980s, the city was a melting pot of musical innovation, blending the deep-rooted sounds of blues with emerging currents like post-punk, creating a unique cultural movement that shaped the music world.

These masters, dubbed 'The Soto Sound Sessions,' were lost for 4 decades. However, thanks to a happy accident, they were discovered in storage by Producer Kevin Paul, who shipped them out for digitization. Not knowing what to expect from tapes that had sat unattended for decades, he was thrilled to receive the digital files in excellent condition.

The entire body of work was released on 2/26/26 on all streaming platforms under the 2Faced name. It includes recordings featuring notable local artists, Audrey Johnson, Shay Jones, Bobby The Acme Thunderer Parisio, and Terry Wells. These recordings include no new elements; they are 100% original and remastered at The Groove Grove Studio. Young Heroes Music is proud to host this project, which reflects a time in Chicago music history that was recognized as fertile creative ground, highlighted by the impressive number of local Bands and Artists signed by national labels during the decade.

Key community spaces fueled Chicago's music scene, which had become vibrant and diverse, featuring iconic clubs like The Warehouse, Power Plant, and Muzik Box for early house music; rock spots like The Roxy, Orphans, and The Bulls; and eclectic venues such as Fitzgeralds, Byfields, and even VFW halls for new talent. Those venues were vital threads in the fabric of Chicago's music scene, helping cultivate a resilient and innovative community.

The rights for these masters are fully cleared for sync, reissue, or compilation opportunities. Please direct all inquiries to 6stringelectricsoul@gmail.com or through the contact app at kpguitar.com
